The creator is stupid – he’s so lucky nobody has yet to (seems like) added CP and reported his website as CP distributor. If push comes to shove it’s he who will get the short end of the stick – just like the tornadocash creator did.

You have got to be fucking kidding me. Satoshis inscribed with up to 4mb of arbitrary data? This is going to be a fucking disaster. It’s one thing to say “you can encode arbitrary data into the blockchain if you pay for the space” and it’s entirely another to devise a system specifically for saving non tx data on chain. This was a bad idea. Bitcoin has everything going for it and we have to footgun ourselves with this nonsense?

There’s actually plenty of arbitrary data on the bitcoin blockchain dating back to 2010. You could always upload any arbitrary data (unsavoury data) if you want to pay for it, just like you could upload anything to the internet.
Your node is not downloading and showing you an image. If you want to create a web page to show such images, that’s up to you. You suffer the consequences. It would just be another porno site.
This is in input script witness, it’s not part of UTXO set, nodes do not execute witness data, by default don’t validate below assumevalid block (no effect on IBD) and it’s entirely prunable. There’s a couple of ordinals filter patch already but nothing well tested yet. Feel free to make a PR.

Why would you even make such a protocol? On-chain data is a scarce resource and it’s just a matter of time until even a small picture costs thousands of dollars to write.
