Help Updating Bitcoin Core from v22 to v24.0.1

Hi, im computer savvy but not terminal line savvy, I originally downloaded v22 dmg (macOS), installed, and synced, ([bitcoin.org](https://bitcoin.org) has v22 linked and not the later version), so orginally i installed 22 without knowing better, but since then, I downloaded v24.0.1 from Bitcoin core, and now have tried installing bitcoind, and seems to successfully work, but even though I have since re-downloaded multiple times and am running what I think is v24.0.1 bitcoind, when I now do the “bitcoind -version call, it still shows v22 still, very frustrating.
I really don’t know what I’m doing and need to be able to run bitcoind v24.0.1 latest version.
And obviously having to re-download the blockchain every time is VERY annoying… If theres maybe a way I can just delete everything and start from scratch as a last option?
There is VERY little ‘n00b friendly’ based info online to be honest, literally no easy to follow tutorials or videos, so any n00b help is much appreciated 🙂

>How to Upgrade
>If you are running an older version, shut it down. Wait until it has completely shut down (which might take a few minutes in some cases), then run the installer (on Windows) or just copy over /Applications/Bitcoin-Qt (on Mac) or bitcoind/bitcoin-qt (on Linux).
